Our clients asked us to undertake designs for the alterations to a fantastic B-Listed Townhouse in Hillhead, Glasgow.
The brief sought to make sense of the lower ground floor spaces, by removing a warren of utilitarian rooms which had no direct link to the garden space. Further alterations were proposed to provide a number of bathrooms and an internal ‘pod’ dressing area to the master suite to bring this period property into the 21st Century and to provide an ideal home for modern family living.
Following an extensive consultation process with Glasgow City Council’s Planning and Heritage and Design departments, approval was granted to provide additional bathrooms, and transform the lower ground floor into an open plan kitchen / dining space connected to the garden.
Large openings were formed on the rear elevation to create bi-folding screens with direct access to the garden. The bright, airy, spacious room was completed with the addition of a sleek, white kitchen, supplied by Kitchens International. The renovations were further complemented by the client’s choice of high quality interior finishes.
